Bita Moghaddam, PhD received her BA from Avila College in Chemistry (Cum Laude) with a minor in Mathematics. She did her Postdoctoral Training in Pharmacology at Yale University and received a PhD in Biochemistry from the University of Kansas. She is Professor of Neuroscience, Psychiatry, and Pharmaceutical Science at the University of Pittsburgh.
Dr. Modhaddam received a NIH/NIMH MERIT Award (2002-2012). She is a Scientific Council member, National Alliance for Research on Schizophrenia & Depression (NARSAD), 2005. She currently the PI of two NIH/NIMH grants, “Biochemical Effects of Antipsychotic Drugs” and “Cannabinoid Approaches for Treatment of Tourette’s Syndrome.” She has published more than 75 peer reviewed article and chapters.
Dr. Moghaddam is interested in mechanisms that underlie cognitive control of goal-directed behavior, and how these mechanisms are disrupted in animal models of psychiatric disorders.
