Florian Holsboer, M.D., Ph.D., is the Director of the Max Planck Institute of Psychiatry in Munich, Germany. It is a research institute for disorders of the central nervous system, with 120 research beds for psychiatry and neurology, as well as 2 outpatient clinics. The Institute contains a broad basic science component ranging from molecular biology to pharmacology, human and mouse genetics, proteomics and chemical genomics.
Dr. Holsboer studied chemistry and medicine at the University of Munich, and did residencies in the Departments of Psychiatry at the University of Munich and the University of Mainz. The recipient of numerous awards, Dr. Holsboer is the author of more than 750 publications and is the Editor-in Chief of The Journal of Psychiatric Research.
