Robert Freedman, M.D. is Chairman of the Department of Psychiatry, and Superintendent, Colorado Psychiatric Hospital, University of Colorado Health Sciences Center, in Denver, Colorado. He received his B.A. from Harvard College, and his M.D. from Harvard Medical School.
Dr. Freedmanís laboratory is concerned with understanding the development of schizophrenia. Using psychophysiological tools such as auditory evoked potentials with schizophrenics and their families, his lab identifies individuals who may carry genes that convey risk for schizophrenia.
Dr. Freedman has been the three-time recipient of both the Psychiatric Residents' Teaching Award and the Medical Students' Teaching Awards at the University of Colorado. He is currently the Principal Investigator on four NIMH grants. Dr. Freedman is the current Editor-in-Chief of the American Journal of Psychiatry and is the author of more than 300 publications.
