John H. Krystal, M.D. is the Robert L. McNeil, Jr. Professor of Clinical Pharmacology and Deputy Chairman for Research, Department of Psychiatry at Yale University School of Medicine. Dr. Krystal obtained his B.A. from the University of Chicago, his M.D. from Yale University, and was a psychiatric resident at Yale University School of Medicine.
He is the Director, Clinical Neuroscience Division, National Center for PTSD, Department of Veterans Affairs and the Director of the NIAAA Center for the Translational Neuroscience of Alcoholism.
He has received the NARSAD Fairfax Foundation Distinguished Investigator Award, is on the Board of Directors of the ACNP, is a Fellow of the Collegium Internationale Neuro-Psychopharmacologicum, and is a Fellow of the American Psychopathology Association.
He is the author of more than 300 publications, has been the editor of or been on the editorial board of 14 journals, and is a reviewer for more than 50 journals, and holds 3 patents for treatments of depression or schizophrenia.
