Ask the Experts…

My oldest sister, 63, has claimed to know more than doctors for years and has dabbled in natural health remedies.

In the last few years, however, she has begun to seriously "diagnose" illnesses in others, usually less informed people who are needy, and some people are not taking prescribed medications, or are taking over the counter medication at a much higher dosage than recommended, at her instruction.

Why does she do this?

It is hard to know without talking to her, but some people do this as a way of handling their own fears of illness and the resulting powerlessness they fear.
