I have Bipolar I disorder. At times, I believe when I am hypomanic, I have conversations with people actual people I know) and I become animated without realizing it. For instance, my lips move as though I am speaking and my hands move as though I am actually having the conversation.

It happens without my realizing it and I find it embarrassing. Why do I do this and does it have a name?

This is an unusual symptom but sounds like it may be related to auditory hallucinations. At times, persons with Bipolar Disorder hear voices others don't hear and may respond to them by speaking out loud. Consulting a psychopharmacologist would be an excellent next step.
