Question:

how do i tell if i am depressed or have depression?

Answered by: David Kahn

If you feel down in the dumps or have lost interest in most activities, and this has been going on for 2 or more weeks and lasts most of the day, almost every day, then you might have depression. Depression also often has disturbance of sleep, energy, appetite, and concentration, and can include thoughts of self-criticism or even wanting to die. If you have most of the symptoms I've outlined, you ought to see a physician, preferably a psychiatrist, for a more thorough evaluation. If you have unexplained physical problems such as insomnia, fatigue or mysterious aches and pains these could also be from depression, and you should talk with a doctor.
