| Ethel Siris, M.D. , 44 million U.S. adults, or 55 percent of Americans 50 years of age and older, are estimated to have the debilitating bone disease osteoporosis—with perhaps still millions more at significant risk. Dr. Ethel Siris, Madeline C. Stabile Professor of Clinical Medicine at Columbia University College of Physicians & Surgeons and director of the Toni Stabile Osteoporosis Center at Columbia University Medical Center, is an internationally known expert on osteoporosis and its related problems. Dr. Siris can talk about the best preventative measures and treatment options for the disease, as well as the latest findings and developments in osteoporosis research.A clinician, clinical investigator, and medical educator in the areas of endocrinology and metabolic bone diseases, Dr. Siris is currently the president of the National Osteoporosis Foundation and a board member of the International Osteoporosis Foundation. She also serves as medical director of the National Osteoporosis Risk Assessment (NORA), an ongoing, multi-year study of osteoporosis that has involved more than 200,000 postmenopausal women in the United States.
