Ping Wu, Ph.D.

Dr. Wu is an Associate Professor in the Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Department of Psychiatry, with a joint appointment in the Department of Epidemiology, Mailman School of Public Health, Columbia University. Her research interests include adolescent psychiatric epidemiology; adolescent substance use, abuse, and dependence; and service utilization for psychiatric and substance-related problems. Dr. Wu is interested in research on the mental health and substance use issues of Asian-Americans. She has also conducted international research focusing on mental health in China.
Dr. Wu has been Principal Investigator on studies funded by the National Institute on Drug Abuse, the National Alliance for Research on Schizophrenia and Affective Disorders, and the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. She is currently conducting studies investigating the co-occurrence of substance abuse with internalizing disorders such as depression or PTSD, and with other psychiatric disorders, among children and adolescents, as well as a study on adolescent service utilization for psychiatric and substance-related problems. She is also co-investigator on two longitudinal epidemiological studies, one focusing on children whose parents are First Responders, and the other on children whose parents have been involved with the criminal justice system.
